Serving as Airbnb’s first LEED Certified Building, this office for 250 employees was designed to cultivate collaboration and a sense of community - fostering connection and creativity, while embracing Chinese culture. Deriving inspiration from traditional Chinese feng shui philosophies, the floor plan & design represents the five elements of wood, earth, water, fire and metal. Another key source of inspiration was the architecture of Chinese Hutongs - which translates to “the path between” and is a symbol of community within the city of Beijing. We brought in that same sense of discovery around every turn, of new worlds hidden around every corner, and a gathering point within the “neighborhoods” of the office.
